San Antonio offers many options for those who plan to spend more than a couple of days in the Alamo City. There are a couple of great resorts, historical hotels and many interesting bed and breakfasts.
The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort has 500 rooms and was built on the site of a historical ranch. The hotel offers 58 suites and is nestled in beautiful surroundings. There are groves of live oaks, rolling golf fairways and wild flower meadows.
Near the Texas Hill Country is the Westin La Cantera Resort, which boasts 38 luxurious rooms in a secluded Casita Village. The resort has three restaurants, five pools, two Jacuzzis, a health club and spa services. There is also La Cantera Golf Club, which is host to the PGA tour event, The Westin Texas Open. The resort is next to Six Flags.
If you are looking for a really nice hotel with affordable rates (under $100), I would highly recommend the Omni Hotel. It is located in northwest San Antonio near many great shops and it is just five miles to Fiesta Texas and 15 miles to SeaWorld.
If you would like to be in the downtown area, Lodging.com recommends the Historic Menger Hotel. It is located next to the Alamo, Rivercenter Mall and the Riverwalk. Have a drink in the Historic Menger Bar where Teddy Roosevelt and his troops once sat.
Also in downtown is the Ramada Emily Morgan. The Emily Morgan, a Neo-Gothic building, sits beside the Alamo, steps from the Riverwalk, the RiverCenter Mall, the San Antonio Convention Center, the Alamodome, La Villita, and the Mercado.
Some great bed and breakfast inns are the Brackenridge House, a country Victorian style inn with five rooms and a carriage house and A Victorian Lady, an elegant B&B. If you are looking for a luxurious, elegant stay, the Bonner House B&B offers the opportunity to spend a few nights in the heart of the Monte Vista Historical District in an Italian villa.
