There are many nice hotels with great accommodations in San Antonio that are also affordable. Many hotels will give you $25 off or 10 percent off if you stay through Sunday during a weekend. Others offer you discounts at their restaurants or give a complimentary glass of wine with dinner. Just inquire and remember that San Antonio is a tourist town.
Many hotels and motels offer free shuttle service to the airport, local malls, the downtown area and other tourist attractions. Some downtown hotels offer free parking, which can save you money if you are staying more than a couple of days.
Here are some good places to stay in the downtown area:
Comfort Suites Downtown is only one mile from the Alamo, Riverwalk and Convention Center.
The Holiday Inn Downtown Market Square is six blocks from the Riverwalk. You can take the trolley to go downtown. Kids eat and stay free and there is also free parking.
Just 1.5 mile from the Riverwalk is the Days Inn Downtown, which has rooms below $50 on weekdays.
Staying near the airport is a good idea if you're on a budget. There are several hotels around the airport that provide clean accommodations at a low cost, including the Drury Inn & Suites Airport, which offers free breakfast, dinner and evening beverages from Monday through Thursday, and The Hilton Airport, which offers a free shuttle to the airport and nearby attractions.
If you are traveling with several people or have children, the Hawthorn Suites Six Flags is a good option. From Monday through Thursday, the hotel offers a free breakfast buffet and light dinner buffet. It is close to Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld.
